Our Year Six teachers are as follows:
- Sycamore – Miss Alison Moat
- Yew – Mr Neil Coaten
- Rowan – Mrs Shannon Fogarty-Slack
Year 6 is the culmination of the skills and teaching the children have received since starting school. Our aim is to prepare children for the next stage of their education, leaving Hampton Vale with the skills and knowledge that will stay with them for life. Although SAT's are an important part of Y6, we also provide children with a creative and exciting curriculum, including the opportunity to participate in a residential week in Norfolk.
This year children have also had the opportunity to work as Ancient Egyptians for the day and experience life as a WW2 evacuee. In addition to this children have complete various numeracy projects including pitching fully costed buisiness proposals for making the school a better place to learn.
During Year 6, children have the opportunity to be a House Captain which develops their leadership and team work skills but also enables them to act as role models for the rest of the school. We have high expecations of our Year 6 children and, as a result, children are set weekly spellings, mental maths revision, learning log tasks plus termly project work. During the spring term children will also be given past SAT questions to complete.
In celebration of our year, Year 6 lead a Leavers Assembly which will also include memories of our End of Year production and their aspirations for the future.
If you would like to help out in Year Six , you are very welcome; you can come and hear children read, help them with their multiplication and division tables, join in the learning on special days such as our 'Wow' days that begin and end each theme or come along on educational visits with us. Just contact one of the Year Six team or the office. We look forward to seeing you soon.
