Virtual Parents' Evening

Due to the current restrictions in schools, we are unable to offer a parents' consultation evening in the way that we are used to doing. Although we are restricted, we believe it is important we have an opportunity for staff and families to discuss the learning of each child who attends Hampton Vale.

This term (Autumn 2020), will be holding our first ever virtual parents’ evening on the evenings of Tuesday 10th and Thursday 12th November. This will replace our normal in-school parents’ evening. We are excited to be able to connect with you virtually and share in your child's learning journey. The meetings will be hosted using Zoom.

Before booking an appointment, please make sure you have read and understood the 'parent disclaimer' and the 'joining instructions' for Zoom found below.

All booking will need to be made using the My Child At School app.

ONLINE BOOKING OPENS: 5pm on Monday 19th October 2020

ONLINE BOOKING CLOSES: Monday 9th November 2020

Booking a parent consultation through My Child At School is easy!

1. Ensure you have downloaded and can access the My Child At School app

(Help is available on the school website under Parent/Carer - MCAS - My Child At School)

2. Open the app and select Parents’ Evening from the main menu

3. Select the day and time you wish to attend

4. If you have more than one child, switch account and repeat the process.

If you do not have access to a computer, tablet or smartphone or are struggling to access the MCAS app, please contact the school office for support or email bc.help@hvp.org.uk 


  • If you have multiple children in the school, you will need to repeat the booking process for each individual child.

  • Only available appointment times will be displayed. i.e. if 3.50-4pm does not appear, the time slot has been booked.

  • You need to be quick, appointments are booked on a first come, first served basis.

  • If you need to Zoom with more than one teacher, please do not book appointments back to back.  

  • Appointments are 10 minutes in length

  • If you are no longer able to attend your appointment, please contact the school office who will cancel the booking and make the appointment available for someone else.

Parents Evening Disclaimer

Zoom Parents’ Evenings October 2020 

Important disclaimer: By accessing the zoom meeting, you are agreeing to share your personal information and data within a controlled environment. You are also agreeing to the terms of use below.

Meeting IDs and a 9-digit, class specific passwords will be sent to you via My Child At School. You will need these details to access your parents’ evening appointment via Zoom.

Please be aware that the following apply to live sessions:  

  • Switch the settings to have microphones and videos off when joining a session.  

  • Sessions are NOT to be recorded by Parents or pupils (on any device).  

  • Usernames must be easily identifiable by the class teachers

  • During sessions, screen shots using the device or other devices are strictly NOT allowed.

  • Ensure the host (Teacher) is in control of who can control the screen.  

  • Learn how to mute and un mute, including video screens.  

  • Be conscious of background environments and others in the room. 

  • Staff will have a school lanyard on during the meeting  

  • Staff, Parents and pupils will wear suitable clothing, as should anyone else in the household.  

  • Any computers used should be in appropriate areas, for example, not in bedrooms; and where possible be against a neutral background.  

  • Language must be professional and appropriate, including any family members in the background.  

  • Videos may be muted for Parents if other distractions in the household become unsettled or cause a disruption.  

  • Please note if you are late for the session, you can still join up until the time of the next appointment. Please bear in mind that sessions will not go over the given time allocated, as this will have an impact on other appointments.
